I’ve been pushing [SmaLiC](https://www.dudeiot.com/demo/) LED controller pretty hard lately and wanted to share a real‑world configuration that shows what it can handle. The controller is currently driving **7,200 RGB pixels** across **8 parallel ports** (virtual port 10), plus **136 RGB pixels** on **port 9**, all running smoothly at **20 FPS** with synchronized audio.

Ports **1–8** operate in parallel as a single virtual output, each strip carrying **900 RGB pixels**. At 60 pixels/meter, that’s **15 meters per strip**, giving a total of **120 meters of LEDs** on the parallel ports alone.

Port **9** handles an **8×16 RGB matrix** (128 pixels) plus **8 RGB backlit buttons**, for a total of **136 RGB pixels** on that port.

The controller multiplexes **port 9** and **virtual port 10**, time‑sharing the pixel engine while keeping both outputs fully synchronized.

# Real timing parameters (LED side)

* Pixel interface timing: 1 bit = 1.2 µs 1 byte = 9.6 µs 1 RGB pixel (3 bytes) = 28.8 µs
* Virtual port 10 (ports 1–8): 900 RGB pixels × 28.8 µs = **25.9 ms**
* Port 9: 136 RGB pixels × 28.8 µs = **3.9 ms**
* Total LED frame time: **25.9 ms + 3.9 ms = 29.8 ms per frame**

This fits comfortably inside the **50 ms** frame window required for **20 FPS** animations.

# Synchronous sound playback

Alongside the LED rendering, the controller also plays **16‑bit / 16 kHz audio**, fully synchronized with the animation frames. Music and lights stay locked together throughout the entire sequence.

# Oscilloscope capture

I’m also including an oscilloscope screenshot showing **two 50 ms frames**.
The capture displays:

* **Port 8** (part of virtual port 10) in BLUE
* **Port 9** (matrix + button LEDs) in YELLOW

You can clearly see the multiplexing pattern: port 10’s 25.9 ms burst followed by port 9’s 3.9 ms burst, repeating every 50 ms. The timing lines up exactly with the calculated frame budget.

# Note about the physical setup

I didn’t build the full 120‑meter LED installation — it’s a gigantic layout.
Instead, I verified the controller’s behavior electrically using the oscilloscope.
The timing, multiplexing, and synchronization are all measured from the real hardware output.

# Summary

This setup currently drives:

* **7,200 RGB pixels** on 8 parallel strips
* **136 RGB pixels** on port 9
* **Synchronized 16‑bit / 16 kHz audio**
* **All at 20 FPS**, with measured LED frame time ≈ **29.8 ms**

Everything stays synchronized across all 9 physical ports and the audio engine, driven from one controller.
