I feel like they’re never lost that spark, the way they looked at each other was consistent from the first season. I know they get a bad rep for season 5 but their moments when they were actual couple were really good. The moment when Damon sends her off to college or when Elena has to leave campus because of Silas and her psychic dreams and she has to go with Damon to find stefan, the whole “we’re gonna save stefan and I’m still gonna love you” and then their kiss. I especially liked when they were in the cell and Damon was too scared to tell Elena how he escaped back in the 50s and she had to tell him that she loves him and she won’t judge him. My favorite is probably when Damon was choosing to do the explosion and die and Elena was not respecting his choice, she was like absolutely not, then she ended up doing it with him. That was giving Bonnie and Clyde. This is why I love Elena in the later seasons, the adventure and danger she wanted she really got that with Damon. Idc what anyone says their break up/sex scene is still iconic to me. It’s so real, like couples will break up and then sleep together right after, they were messy, complicated, but the love was real. I do like that in season 6, it was definitely more mature, like they figured themselves out. Damon gave her a vampire proposal, I also liked the moment of her taking the cure on her front porch with him, and when Damon saved her from Kai and Elena was literally playing jokes with him while his hand was in her chest cavity. Elena was sick🤣I really liked who she was when she with Damon. Seasons 3-6 are probably like my favorite seasons of them.

I loved them in their relationship era
