Replace don't remove.
For years alcohol and/or substances have been serving a purpose in your life. They have been offering you something you've been unable to get naturally/normally and because they've been doing that job so well you've become addicted to them.
If we simply remove that from your life you'll be left with a void, this void increases the chances of two things;
- Relapse - Falling back into bad habits and taking what you were trying to give up.
- Addiction transfer - Moving your addiction from alcohol to gambling (for example) in order to get that same dopamine hit / buzz.
If we replace them with something healthier then the risk of relapse and addiction transfer reduce.
Replacing with things like walking, gym, a hobby or even just getting outside in the fresh air will help replace what alcohol and/or substances were giving you.
Give it a try and any questions let me know
Wishing everyone a great rest of the week
