Job Ideas for 40 y/o woman?

Work

Hi everyone! Posting here on behalf of my aunt! A bit of background, she had 3 children in her late teens - mid 20s. The children’s father left to move abroad when they were young and she was left on her own with them. The past 15 years ish she’s been on welfare and living in council housing, she was able to stay on it because one of the children has autism. Luckily he’s come on a lot in the last few years and is starting a local college next year.

Since he’s ok to take care of himself now she’s eager to get back out in the workforce and move on a bit with her life. She’s just very unsure of what kind of career to go into? She was very clever in school but dropped out when she got pregnant, and never did the LC. I think for her own confidence she should go back to do something in college since she’s always been a bit ashamed of not finishing school, but she’s worried about being a mature student and not being able to find work afterwards. She’s probably most interested in humanities but obviously there’s a concern about job prospects there. Does anyone have any advice re possible careers or has gone through something similar?
