Hi all, I was just looking for some suggestions or tips if anyone has any.

For the last 6-7 months or so there have been two cats that hang out at my bus stop (i use daily for work) and they seem in pretty good shape as far as im concerned, but they dont really let me close enough to tell. Either way, its a bonded pair.

Today, one showed me (as she was running away) that they have shelter under one of the buildings there. The entry way is in a very small alley between two buildings that's really only big enough for them, so I have no way of seeing the shelter entrance myself... and im pretty sure it's an abandoned but still privately owned building, because I was going to ask an owner if they knew anything about them. I did ask someone who recently moved in nearby, and she assumes they're strays too.

The point of this is that winter is coming soon and it gets very cold where I live, well below freezing at times. Is there anything I can do to keep them safe? They do appear to be older than a year, so im assuming they have made it through a winter before. I may be being overthinking it too much, since I know I cant save all the cats in the world.

Also im weary of feeding them, since its so close to the road. Today I did toss some treats into their little alley but im not sure if feeding them is working against them? I dont want them to start relying on me for food instead of however they've been managing....

TLDR: how can I keep stray cats safe in the winter when I have no access to where they are sheltering?

also i’ve attached photos of my sweet friends along with the little alley. it’s further down that their makeshift entrance is.

Help with my bus stop friends?
