Bought surfskate on Monday, broke my wrist on Tuesday

I am 52 and bought the board to train for surfing. My surf and skate bases were always different: surf is goofy, skate is regular. I was searching online and the suggestion to switch my base while surfskating came up, if I want it to impact my surfing. I was trying around the surf base on the skateboard, slowly on my living room, but with no muscle memory the board went forward, and my body back on top of my wrist.

If I don't give skateboarding altogether now, I am wondering if trying to change my base is going to be a mistake at this stage.

That's an Oxelo Carver 540 btw.
