General advice on my situation (post concussion syndrome, I think)

TW: Short mention of suicidal ideation, not detailed by any means

For a bit of background:

  • I am a Taekwondo athlete, and got hit in the face during sparring on Saturday (but the pain appeared in the back of the head, which is why my school nurse and I are quite sure it's a concussion).

  • On Sunday, I only had a mild headache on the back of my head.

  • On Monday, the headache got worse and spread to the left side of my face (behind the eye and ear). I went to the school nurse, since I had trouble focusing in class and she told me that a concussion was possible (I'm quite sure now). After school on that day, I had to convince my mom to let me sleep (and I ended up sleeping for 15 hours, before waking up for school).

  • On Tuesday, my symptoms started mild and faded throughout the day.

  • On Wednesday (today), I gained new symptoms. Particularly, when I lean over I get a pressure and aching in my head. The pain is now concentrated around my ears, for some reason. Every once in a while I'll feel this burning sensation in my nose. I also get dizzy when I stand up, but that might just be because of low iron.

I want to know a few things in particular, but any other notes anyone has is useful:

  • How serious is this concussion, and do I need to take a rest from Taekwondo?
    • If I do need to take a rest, how can I convince my parents to let me?
    • How long would I need to rest for?
  • Is it possible to predict how long it will take for my symptoms to go away?
  • I already have some issues with suicidal ideation. How can I avoid it getting worse from the post-concussion syndrome?
  • It's near impossible for me to take a break from school at this point. How can I avoid symptoms getting worse?
