Does the initial interest fade? Anybody have gear collecting dust?

I’m two weeks into exploring 3D printing and love it so far. In fact I’m already considering a second printer as I’ve found myself being bottlenecked on throughput. However, I’m worried I’m simply going through an initial phase that will wane and I’ll end up with gear I ignore after 6 months.
