Relationship Advice
I am in age gap relationship. The age gap is significantly huge and he is the older one of the two of us. We have been together for about 3 and a half years. He has 2 kids and I do not have any. We have had our fair share of problems over the years which I assume is normal. Not to mention , he is my second long term relationship. I go to school, I work, I keep up with the house, groceries, cook, and help with the kids. He pays the bills (I’ve asked numerous times to help with any part of bills and he has always declined. He says it’s his responsibility not mine). He is the kind of man that feels like what he says goes. He is also the kind of man that is extremely emotionally unavailable. He will go days without talking to me before he sits down and have an uncomfortable conversation about anything. I am more of a talker. I want to talk things out, I want to get to the root of the problem even if he makes me uncomfortable. I am just trying to give a little backstory here! It goes way deeper but for now I will leave it at that. Recently, he wanted to have intimate time. I was pretty tired but was still willing to do it just to keep the peace. He was kind of just rubbing on me for about 10 minutes or so. I eventually moved his hand away because it was uncomfortable after a while. With me doing that, he rolled over to the other side of the bed. I asked him why did he roll over and stop cuddling me. He said I pushed him away. I said I didn’t push you away, I just moved your hand because it started to feel uncomfortable the way you were rubbing me. I am still up for the intimate time but I am a little tired. Basically telling him let’s get to the point! He insisted that I pushed him away. I said well, can you at least come back and cuddle with me. He declined and said I pushed him away and that since I’m so tired just go to bed. This frustrated me a little bit and I am going to tell you why. This is not the first, second , third, or fourth time he has reacted this way. One time, I said no because I was really tired. He pushed and pushed and basically forced him onto me despite me saying no. I silently cried while it was happening. I felt taken advantage of. All he said the next day was “do you think I require too much sex”, which to me was a guilty conscience. I rarely decline sex even if I’m not in the mood. Sometimes I am too tired, which is normal. I am human not an object. He gets so angry when I do not give in and give him what he wants. Almost like how a child would act when you tell them they can’t get a snack or juice! It makes me uncomfortable sometimes. Not to mention, I mentioned to him the other day he only tells me he loves me or misses me when we are being intimate. I rarely get affection other than during intimate time. He will kiss me on the cheek here and there but other than that it’s not really much. I have to ask for kisses and hugs. I am very affectionate. I like to be to be cuddled, hugged , kissed , or just even thought about throughout the day. We do not really talk or text if we are not in the same space. He won’t call throughout the day. He won’t send random text here there throughout the day unless I do so first. When we first got together, he use to do these things all the time. He use to call all the time , text all the time , tell me I’m beautiful, kiss me all throughout the night while I’m sleeping and tell me he loves me. I understand things change as relationships go on , especially when you live together. But the little things here and there would still me nice. It does not have to be everyday. I tell him often that I do no think he likes me. I think he likes the idea of me. He always responds with what are you talking about or if I didn’t like you why would I be with you. I don’t know. I am so torn between leaving and loving myself first and staying out of comfort and familiarity. I really do not have many people to talk too about this or many people older than me to give me advice. So here I am. This is just part of the problem. I can go into more detail if anybody would like to help you better understand before giving advice.
