Racing IRONMAN 70.3 Weymouth (UK) as an Irish athlete — does my Triathlon Ireland membership cover me, or do I need separate insurance?

Hoping someone here has dealt with this before. I’m a Full Member of Triathlon Ireland, based in Ireland, and I’m racing IRONMAN 70.3 Weymouth in the UK.

From what I can tell, this event isn’t on the TI race calendar — it’s an IRONMAN-sanctioned event, not a TI-sanctioned one. TI’s own site seems to say membership cover only applies to sanctioned events, so I’m trying to figure out:

**•**	Does anyone know if TI membership actually extends to racing IRONMAN/70.3 events abroad, or is that a hard no?I ’ve emailed them to check but no response yet and nobody picks up the phone.  
**•**	Has anyone gotten TI to confirm cover in writing for a race like this?  
**•**	What did you use instead — a specific travel/sports policy that covers competitive triathlon *and* bike transit/transition cover? A few names have come up in my own research (World Nomads, Bikmo, SportsCover Direct) but I’d love to hear what people have actually used and been happy with.

Any first-hand experience — especially from other TI members who’ve raced IRONMAN events in the UK or further afield — would be a big help. Thanks!
