Torn on taking out maintenance loan as a Muslim
Salam,
I 19m going into 2 second yr university, last year I took out both maintenance and uni fees loan (interest based) but this year after money from bursaries scholarships and me working in a warehouse over summer, I can survive 2nd year with very low spending around 250 a month after rent. In third year it’s worse and I will have to work to survive.
Going into university I will be tutoring bringing in £80 a month inshaAllah.
I’m still taking out a tuition fee loan this year and next year, and I’ll most likely need to take out a maintenance loan next year as well. So I am only avoiding a 5k loan in total
For context In my duas for getting this warehouse job I asked God that if I got this job and I could financially manage to support myself this year I wouldn’t take out a maintenance loan so I don’t want to go back on my word with God. However if I did take out this maintenance id live very easily for 2nd and 3rd year.
My mother is also insisting I take it out bc it ll my life significantly easier for the next 2 years
What should I do in this instance?
