What Do You Think Happens if Harris, AOC, and Ossoff All End Up Not Running in 2028?
Something interesting right now about the top 5 highest-polling candidates for 2028 is that there are odds for 3 of them that they won't run at all. AOC may choose to go for the Senate, Ossoff is locked out if Bottoms loses, and we were all wrong about Harris running for Cali governor, so we could be wrong about her running now, especially since she hasn't been making nearly as much noise as some others.
It's extremely unlikely that ALL three of them sit out, but it is possible.
How do you think that would play out?
I'm inclined to think it would lead to a two-horse race between Newsom and Buttigieg, because black voters would be left without a natural candidate to get behind, leading to a split between Newsom, Kelly, Shapiro, and even IF Pritzker got most of AOC's coalition behind him, the selection of pre-Super Tuesday states is wiping him out early.
I think Pete would still pull it out through a Northern near-sweep through a combination of having a unique coalition (unlike the others) and Newsom being generally unlikable the more people get to see him, but it'd be close.
