I know this is a headcanon that smells a lot like fanfiction, but I like thinking about it.

Deep down, Noel misses his friend Ego despite everything that happened. However, since feelings are illogical and go against his philosophy, he simply ignores or represses that sense of longing. You can choose whichever word you prefer: perhaps he represses those feelings, or maybe he simply tries to ignore them.

I also like to imagine that seeing Nagi and Reo's conversation at the end of the Egoist League would have reminded him of those feelings. Like, I don't know, I can imagine him remembering the friendship he once had with Ego and how it ended in such a melancholic way.

He could even see himself in Nagi and Reo's situation, especially in the idea of a friendship between two players and partners on the field coming to an end. And, if someone wants to push the interpretation a little further, you could even see a sort of romantic dynamic between them.

I think this dynamic could potentially be explored in the future, who knows.

The worst part is that this actually feels completely in character for him. His philosophy, his ego, and his robotic and logical way of life wouldn’t allow him to admit or show those emotions, even if they’re there.

I know it sounds like fanfiction, but I don’t think it’s really that out of character. What do you think? Do you think this is too out of character for him?

HEADCANON: Noel misses ego, but he hides or represses those feelings because they go against his philosophy and his egoism. The conversation between Nagi and Reo made him remember those feelings.
