Working in Geneva and living in Germany/France

Work

I recently got an offer from a foundation in Geneva to work as a team lead with CHF 130k. I have a 1 year old; my husband and I live in Frankfurt. He works at a EU institution (earns well) and we have almost free private crèche, kindergarten and schooling for our baby here in Frankfurt. We also have an apartment here in Frankfurt (still paying mortgage).

However, the role in Geneva is extremely interesting for me. How can I make it work? We know that any private childcare would costs loads. Tax in Geneva will be higher compared to what I pay there. And I’ll also be breaking up my family - as I need to be in the office in Geneva 3x a week. So if I commute, then the load of childcare falls on my husband and I become a part time parent. and if he commutes, it’s the reverse. And how long can we do this for? There are so many questions spinning in my head and I feel so sad that my skills and my experience take a backseat because I’m an ambitious woman. What do I do? Has anyone been in a similar situation and made it possible for them to have interesting work AND family life?
I would love to hear your stories and understand possible solutions.

Thanks!
