Rivens and Markets
I feel like a lot of people talking about the riven changes don't know how markets respond to the addition of higher price+quality tiers.
Adding power levels beyond our existing god-rolls will not just make everyone scramble for that new level of power. Once current-god-roll rivens are 33% more likely, almost everyone will ignore the super-god-roll rivens.
Firstly, the number of people who will obsess over rerolling 1/50mil odds for their own use is truly trivially small. Remember that random intermittent reinforcement is what makes gambling appealing; with no payoff ever, even the most dedicated gambler will eventually give up, because nothing is scratching their itch.
Secondly, the person (or group) who sells rivens simply cannot add 3 zeroes to the end of their prices. That's not how markets work. So do you think they'll do 1000x more rerolls for only maybe 10x the profit? Absolutely not.
This is why Apple degrades the performance of old phones, and why 3D TVs failed: if there's already a GOOD product available, very few people will pay significantly more for a version of the same product, even if that version is of commensurately higher quality.
Especially since a current-god-roll riven can push player power well beyond any observable result (as can many other things), there's really no reason to fret about it. Yes, the existing high-end riven market will collapse, but that's been a long time coming. And sure, I can't predict the future. But I can make some guesses based on history, and they tell me that there's nothing to worry about.
