Often when I introduce myself to people and tell them im a psychologist I am met with a strange coldness, do you guys find this too?
I like to go out and chat with lots of random people in life and I will be having a nice conversation with someone where they are very reciprocal and asking questions in response to the things I say and whatnot. They ask what I do, I tell them, then they sort of seem to close up. I am sure this is because of a potentially uncomfortable thought that I am psychoanalysing them, have a negative view of our profession, or something like those. I reckon this happens like 7/10 times. Just wondering if this is a common experience amongst the rest of us?
