PT Programs for Semi-Pivot?

Careers/Post Grad

Hi folks, made a very late decision to look at applying to some schools this year. I currently work in buy-side/alternative data equity research (think Yipit, M Science, Consumer Edge), 5 YoE across 2 companies. I’m trying to pivot into being an analyst in PE (I know it’s very difficult) or hedge funds (less difficult, people don’t make the jump from my background but do from sell-side research without an MBA). High-level corporate roles of less interest but wouldn’t be upset.

Current financial circumstances mean I am not in a position to apply for FT enrollment (I need my job and opportunity cost is high).

Booth is my top choice and understanding the trade-offs between the evening and weekend programs would be helpful (I work remotely so both are possible).

I haven’t heard great things on here about NYU Stern/Langone. But I live in the NYC area and going to NYU or the new programs at Columbia and MIT would be less disruptive. Moving to California and going to UCLA is of interest as well for relationship reasons.

I would love some advice on whether a PT program will give me at least some of the recruiting opportunities I’m looking for - again since FT isn’t feasible for me, I’m willing to take the worse odds. I would really appreciate help understanding the best school fits as well.
