Surge 2XL double feeding

I just bought this blaster. While it shots pretty fine on auto and burst, the single shot are almost all with two gels. I’ve peeked through the feeder and that rubber nozzle stays back after every single shot while on burst, it stays pushed and not allowing more balls to come in. Is this normal for this blaster or should I return it?
