I wish my job would fire this guy

I’ve been working as a server assistant at this job since july and when hired I was promised I would be given a serving position when one would open up. I didn’t have very high expectations, I know that type of promise all too well lol.

But…. there’s this one server and he is just horrible. The bartenders don’t like him, customers don’t like him, other servers don’t like him and I know kitchen staff tends to not like most servers but they REALLY don’t like him. The owner refuses to fire him since he’s been working there for so long and he is a pretty consistent worker. I get that it’s hard to find reliable staff in this industry and I will give him kudos for being someone who always shows up and almost never calls out but he is just so bad for morale! When he’s on a shift there is a drastic difference in tip averages (we have some pretty great servers so majority of days the pool average is 20%+ but he’s gotten as low as 12% and very rarely hits 20%) and he doesn’t do anything besides jot down orders. He doesn’t prebus his tables, he will seat people at tables without running it by me (SA’s also take on host duties) he will sit and wait at the service well for his drinks as soon as he rings them up, he rarely runs his own food when I’m swamped and he is always fucking tickets up because he doesn’t know how to use toast despite it being the restaurant’s POS for years! Staff has complained about him time and time again for what I’ve been told is years but the owner just won’t let. him. GO!

I honestly really enjoy working at this restaurant. The food is so good, besides this one guy the entirety of the staff genuinely get along and work very well together, and the money is pretty great most shifts! I’ve been in the industry since I was 14 (now 24) so I’ve been through my fair share of bad coworkers but it’s still such a struggle watching this guy fuck up when I could be doing a much better job :/
