First time user

My company offers tax free transportation and it looks like I need to use OMNY card.

Basically load OMNY card with $$ and this $$ will be tax free.

My question is

1. Do I have to purchase a physical card first?
2. Can this physical card be added to my Apple wallet?
3. If not, does this mean I have to carry a physical card at all times?
