How to adapt to a non-normal life?
There are so many things I want to do, that I’m prevented from doing, because I have to wear a mask. Not long before 2020 I was going to start participating in local theater. I’ve always wanted to get into acting, admittedly as a dream but even just as a hobby, but I never got the chance as a kid. Now 6 years later, I’m in my 20s and I know I’m responsible for my own future, but what am I supposed to do? I know I couldn’t perform or rehearse in a mask. These opportunities I want to try out feel out of reach, because I can’t sacrifice my health and the health of those I live with for the sake of a hobby or even a dream. And anyone who would just tell me “well stop wearing a mask then” clearly doesn’t understand how complicated this reality is. I barely leave the house, and I feel so disconnected from my peers who I all watch from a distance.
How do you adapt to a life like this? How do you still pursue happiness, without compromising your safety, when the world insists you ditch the best precaution you have?
(Vent post, but I also welcome hearing from people who relate or who have some optimism to share.)
