Software for floor plans etc. Sketchup?

Hi guys.

Any thoughts on what software to turn to?

I am looking for a program that I can create a 3d model out of 2D CAD drawings, both for visualization of possible renovation possibilities, but also I want to be able to make new floor plans, escape route drawings, etc. from the model.

I have been looking into Sketchup a little, but I am not sure this program is good for withdrawing floor plans etc. Anyone that have tried that here?

I have some experience from Solidworks, Inventor and Shapr3d, but I find these programs are more suited for makers and 3D printing which is what I mainly do myself.
