Did you know? ๐ in a room of just 23 people, there's a 50% chance two share a birthday
Sounds impossible until you look at the actual math. With 23 people in a room, there are 253 possible pairs of people, not 23 chances, 253. And you only need ONE of those 253 pairs to match for the whole thing to be true. That's why the odds cross 50% so fast, way faster than most people's gut says.
Push it to 70 people and the odds are basically 99.9%, practically guaranteed. It's a classic example of how our intuition is built for linear thinking (23 people, 23 chances) when the real math is quadratic (23 people, hundreds of pairs).
Anyone here ever met their birthday twin in a small group and thought it was some wild coincidence? Turns out the coincidence was doing a lot less work than you thought.
