We gotta get over dragapult.
Yes. It’s a really annoying deck right now. It’s such an insane amount of the meta and any given room you could walk into. I get it. I really get it.
That being said, it’s here and it is not going anywhere until April. Learn the matchup instead of getting mad that your opponent even flipped over a dreepy. There is counter play despite what many might think at this point. N’s Zoroark has a great matchup into it and is also fun to play once you learn it. Slowking can body it cuz they don’t play shaymin, and Excadrill can also handle it very well. It CAN be beat.
I’ve played dragapult since last year. Pult is my favorite dragon type so it just made sense that I gravitated towards it, but that doesn’t mean I have a biased take here. I’ve played a LOT of different decks since rotation. Just on Pult right now cuz I’m practicing for upcoming regionals. That being said…
When you match into a dragapult you gotta lock in. Pay attention to what they are setting up as they normally are thinking turns ahead as opposed to “I gotta just ko active”. Read your battle logs after a game. Focus on forcing them to use resources up. I played a pult mirror yesterday that was absolutely grueling. I didn’t even have a drakloak for like 4 turns. I hit my hammers on the opposing pult and used all three of my bosses in the beginning of the game to spread 10 counts with budew and force them to use energy to retreat back into Budew. They took 3 prizes I took zero. They conceded because I ran them out of energy and night stretchers. It’s stuff like that.
Look at the lists, find the trends (ie most run 2 night stretchers and generally a 3-3-2 energy count) and use that info against them. Play big basics or a stage one deck like Lucario that can punch hard and accelerate energy.
You have options. You can beat pult.
Practice practice practice and just try to accept that pult is here until rotation. I mean ffs if you’re new to the game as of the past year go back the past couple years and look at decks like ADP, Broken Lugia and Regidrago. Pult doesn’t seem so bad all of a sudden.
Also keep in mind that they seem to be trying to do a reverse power creep with the game right now. Things are powering/slowing down and until Pult leaves it’s just gonna feel bad for a bit, but we will power through.
Inshallah you beat the ghost dragon.
