Post First Session Tattoo Question

Hi I'm new to removal. I'm removing a black ink tattoo on my side and the guy I'm going to is reputable in my area for removal. He did say * that my tattoo is really bold and dark. That said my current tattoo is now two weeks post my tattoo removal and a lot of it has peeled. However, the tattoo kind of looks the same with before I did the laser removal. Has anyone experienced the same thing and what was their process/timeline like with really bold black ink tattoo? My next session is still more than 2 months away so I'm hoping it fades a little until then.
