Advice on how I should deal with my neighbour being awkward?

Me and a friend moved into our house about 4 months ago and at first no neighbours bothered us but that lasted less than a full month.

It started with things I wouldn't assume was them like my blue and green bins constantly getting stolen and glass bottles tossed outside the back gate (where we take bins out) but I have since caught him doing both also the fact he puts the bins out with my house number all over and just his number with a sticker on the lid. I tried to confront him about this when I went to collect the bin back today because he was pulling 'his' in and trying to get my new one (my like 4th new one atp 😭) he just told me to fuck off since it was obviously his pointing to the sticker on the top and he told me to get fucked when I pointed out my number pained on the sides of the bin. (He couldn't pull both bins at the same time so I just went up behind him and just took my new bin at least he was NOT happy)

This is just the stuff that happens occasionally more often he's shouting out his window drunkenly sluring at me when I'm in the back garden? Me and my friend aren't particularly loud or anything since they prefer headphones and I can't stand my telly above 15 max. I have friends over but we're all adults and don't really drink so it's not like we're loud drunks daft times were normally watching telly and talking shit after/before work. Id understand if we were doing something but we out here just trying to live.

He's banged on the door several times but I'm sure he waits for me to leave for work because I'm willing to awnser him (my mates a bit timid and CANNOT do confrontation) so I've only awnsered him at the door once. He was barely able to stand straight while she tried to shout at me about 'the kids are flinging shit out ya window'... Theres no kids in the house just two 20 odd year old lasses and a cat? I said it wouldn't of been our house since there's no kids and he told me to stop lying and watch myself so I slammed the door in his face because there was no talking sense into him. He will also come stand outside the front when he hears me leaving for work and he'll just stand there and watch me walk to the bus stop grinning it's fucking weird but it's not like I have anyone to walk me to the bus stop.

He's genuinely grinding my gears at this point but he's not physically violent or anything just pissing me the fuck off and there's no way to have a grow up conversation with him. So any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated! Be it legal advice or being passive aggressive back atp I'm just sick of him thinking he's some big man shouting at me and my mate.
