Question about characters with ion powers.

I've been reading the thunderbolts and there was an issue where they teamed up with the Avengers in order to fight count Nefaria. During this issue Nefaria detonates an ion bomb so he can rule the world but Atlas and Wonder Man who have ion powers absorb the blast. This leads to Atlas dying because he's overloaded with ions. Everyone in the comics keeps saying that he'll reform and come back from the dead and I want to know if characters with ion powers always come back from the dead or only if they die in an ion related way?
