Trading down from a W213 Mercedes E220d to a £15k family crossover for upcoming baby , thoughts on my shortlist?

Advice

Less than a year ago, I pulled the plug on a 2020 Mercedes E220d. It has been an amazing car so far, but it looks like I will have to let it go (and yes, I'm aware I'll take a hit on negative equity, which I've accepted).

We’re welcoming a baby in the coming months, and my wife will need to take time off work. I’ll be the sole earner for a year or more, so my priority is cutting down overheads and keeping maintenance and repair costs as predictable as possible. Hence, trading down to something cheaper and more practical.

Budget: £15,000

I’ve done some digging and shortlisted four family-sized options that supposedly balance reliability with a reasonable amount of poke. Here is what I’ve found so far:

2019 Mazda CX-5 (2.0L Petrol): Great looking thing, but a lot of online threads mention the non-turbo engine feels sluggish/underpowered.

2019 Toyota RAV4 (Petrol Hybrid): Virtually impossible to find a clean one under 100k miles within a £15k budget.

2019 Kia Sportage (1.6 T-GDi GT-Line): Well-equipped and gets the remaining balance of the 7-year warranty (if history is spotless), but fuel economy can be heavy.

2020 Skoda Karoq (1.5 TSI): Seems sensible, practical, and uses the VAG ecosystem.

For anyone who has owned or lived with these, how have they treated you? If you were in my shoes trying to minimize financial surprises with a newborn on the way, which one would you pick?
