Question about Season 2 [discussion]

I'm a bit late to the party but only now I'm watching Re:Zero. I recently finished Season 2 (I have now finished S3 too) and there was a scene towards the end that left me scratching my head. When Ram and Puck prepare to attack Roswaal, Puck accuses him of having done something to Puck's contract with Emilia which is the reason why Puck spent most of the season asleep/away. This surprised me because I had assumed until then that Puck himself had been the one looking for a way to end the contract so Emilia could regain her memories and pass the trial of the Past; moreover, it feels really wrong that someone can meddle between two entities' magical contract without them knowing.

Anyway, Roswaal admitted to the deed, but then there was nothing else said about it and I get the feeling that it really should have been elaborated and maybe it was cut off since they seemed to have packed a lot of stuff in that last episode? If it was elaborated on in the LNs during that arc please let me know in spoilers. If it was elaborated in later arcs that haven't been animated then don't tell me.
