Play date etiquette

My son just started kindergarten (🤗). We’re starting to get invited to play dates and just wondering from other parents - is it typical to bring something if the play date is at a friend’s house? Nothing insane - like cookies for the boys or flowers for her or something. I think I’m so ingrained that you always have to bring something when you go to someone’s house 😂. We’re also kind of new to town and I’m excited to make mom friends too! But is it weird? If not, any good suggestions on what you’d love someone to bring you?
