Biopsy Results Are In: PASH/Fibroadenomatoid Changes /Benign Microcalcifications in Ducts

Tests and Diagnoses

Hi! I’m in a high-risk breast screening program because of my family history. My mom had ductal breast cancer and passed away around the same age I am now (31). My grandmother also had breast cancer.

I also have extremely dense breasts, category D.
A recent breast MRI found a 6.4 mm mass in my right breast, which was categorized BI-RADS 4A. I had a mammogram first, then a second-look ultrasound, but the ultrasound couldn’t see the MRI finding, so I ended up having an MRI-guided biopsy.

I got my pathology results yesterday through MyChart, and thankfully they were benign:
“PASH-like/fibroadenomatoid changes, benign duct-associated microcalcifications.”

I’m relieved, but I’m confused about the microcalcifications because they were never mentioned on my mammogram, ultrasound, or MRI reports.

I’m still waiting to hear back from the radiologist, who is supposed to review the pathology with the MRI findings and confirm whether everything is concordant.

Has anyone had similar findings? Are these considered pretty normal/benign findings, or is there anything I should be concerned about or follow more closely?
