Are you guys actually following through on the “ideas” your CEO/Exec Leadership give you?
I am a one person marketing team at a medium sized nonprofit.
As expected I am perpetually burnt out and overworked, but I know how bad the job market is so I try to seem positive and energetic at work. Plus this job is much better than some of my previous marketing jobs.
Our CEO is overall nice but very enthusiastic, and will often send me random ideas he wants me to do - videos to create, stuff to add to the website, etc. Usually it’s things I’ve already thought of but haven’t had the time to get around to doing.
I don’t have the time or energy to do them, and am focused on more revenue generating projects, but he is the CEO so I don’t want to shut him down. This is a pattern, with other members of the executive leadership team often sending me “fun” ideas, that would likely take me entire days to film and edit.
How do you guys handle stuff like this?
