Does Honda/BigWing actually mandate buying insurance from the dealership? BigWing Kanpur says it’s mandatory

Hey guys,
I’m about to book a Honda CB350RS from BigWing Kanpur and ran into an issue regarding insurance.

The dealership has quoted around ₹13,012 for insurance and is telling me that I cannot purchase insurance from outside. According to them, it is mandatory to take the insurance through the dealership itself and they “cannot allow” me to provide insurance purchased independently.

I’m a little confused because I was under the impression that I should be able to choose my own insurer as long as I have valid insurance before registration/delivery.

So, does Honda actually have a policy that requires customers to purchase insurance through the BigWing dealership? Or is this just a dealership-level practice?

I’ve also tried calling Honda customer care (1800 103 3434) multiple times but haven’t been able to get through to anyone.

If anyone has:

-Recently bought a Honda/BigWing bike and purchased insurance from outside

-Any experience specifically with BigWing Kanpur

-A way to actually get in touch with Honda customer care/escalation
