want to make LEDs React to motion like a Swing

I have a Project that i want to Pursue and have been facing a few Issues, but the one i really want to solve is making LED react to swings. like mid Swings it brightens a bit, thats all but have come short of finding any videos that can teach me, i may be looking in the wrong area but i was hoping anyone else could give me a few pointers in this matter
