Phone Notifications
Hi Ladies! Long-time lurker, first-time poster currently on the verge of losing every contact in my phone because I am a chronic digital ghost.
If my screen shows more than five notifications, my brain immediately categorizes it as a threat, and I actively ignore all of them. Work emails? Missed them. Teams messages? Unread. Texts and calls from family? Ghosted.
When I am at work, I am completely locked in. I want to do a good job, and checking a text message feels like a massive distraction. When I get home, I lock in again. I have a mountain of chores, and then I have my hobbies. And by hobbies, I mean I am essentially running an IT department, a 19th-century forge, and a bakery simultaneously.
Riding my motorcycle, working on my truck, welding, and actual smithing.
Watercoloring and baking.
Video games and configuring my Homelab setup.
Running with my dog and listening to audiobooks (because my hands are obviously busy welding).
I want to be more social, but my default setting is "unreachable hermit," and I am going absolutely nuts trying to fix it. Does anyone else struggle with this intense hyper-focus? I hate my phone, I want to only do calls because texting is way to draining, all the notifications are draining. How do you manage notifications without feeling totally derailed from your day? Please drop your best systems, apps, or tough-love advice below
(Also mild rant, but is it just me or are phone notifications super intrusive and constant now. Amazon, snap, Google photos for f** sake)
