31 [M4F] #NYC - Looking For Friends, Introverts, Gaming, and more

M4F New York

Just as a note, PLEASE READ my post before messaging, thank you.

Hello there, and thank you kindly for stopping by my post. It's still summer (although it's the last month or so) and I would love to have some friend to talk to often, get to know and hang out with IRL, Long Term. I want to spend time doing different things and also see who is around and also open to something similar. I want to talk online before anything in person, and at this point just very happy to talk to anyone legitimate (and not a spammer).

About me: I'm 31, male, and live in Manhattan's Upper West Side. Physically I'm 6' tall and a bit extra, working on slimming down (exercising and walking around). My job is in education (and very unfun). My degree was in Computer Science (NYU/CUNY). I would love to find someone who is also on a weight loss journey or something similar. I've begun walking around and while fun, I wish I had someone to talk with about something while I do it. I love the UWS and enjoy walking around it and going to parks and places, but all of Manhattan is fun to explore and see the sights in. Some of my favorite places in the city are either around the UWS, or downtown Manhattan. I Love Central Park and Riverside Park. Totally open to exploring more of downtown Manhattan or the East Side.

My interests include video games (platformers, action, RPG, MMO, and others), anime, movies, music, and art. I'm primarily a "homebody". I play mostly single player games, horror, platformer, action. Metroid and Spyro (new game announced btw) are two of my favorites, but ask if you're curious about it. I'm a collector and am always looking for new games to buy and add. I'm also a big fan of Legos (mainly Lego Star Wars) and have built a lot of sets recently but still am building more.

I have also bought and started to read books again! I'm excited to read more for this year; some Young Adult, some science fiction, primarily non fiction and classics mainly. I'm building a library of famous and iconic literature, so I'm an occasional shopper at Barnes and Nobles. I also created a good music playlist recently and have been expanding it. I'm also a big fan of 90s-2000s era cartoons as well, so if you grew up watching those I'd love to hear about it. I still watch Toonami every weekend, personally. If you like anime (more specifically, shonen) then that's a plus too. I used to draw and would like to get back into it again, mainly landscapes (can't really draw people).

I'd love to learn about you too! My primary goal for this post is to find someone nearby who likes these interests or others and wants someone to talk with (online at first), hang out IRL (museums, movies, whatever) or play something online with. Interests, hobbies, how long you've lived in the city + whatever you enjoy doing around it or at home. Someone nerdy, someone geeky, someone any of those descriptions or adjacent. Did you play a lot of PS2, Xbox, or Gamecube? Wow that's very cool! Cosplayers? Love the artistic types too. Painter? Artist? Sounds good to me. Love landscapes. Band geeks or instrument players are also welcome as well. Are you a former/current Piano player? Me too! Harp or any instrument players are also welcome. Voice actors? Wow please tell me more! I'm a huge fan of science so I love the AMNH (Dinosaurs and Space exhibits) and the MET.

Ideally:

  • You're around the Upper West Side of Manhattan, familiar with the area, and/or close. Definitely flexible on this one.
  • You're 24-38ish
  • You're probably someone who grew up playing N64, PS1, Gamecube or PS2.
  • You like that 80s-late 2000s culture we had.
  • Any sizes, shapes, or whatever else is more than welcome, (bonus points if you have red/blonde hair or green/blue eyes)
  • You can be new to the city or a native who has been here forever.
  • You are, by classic definitions, a nerd; someone who would play video or board games, and watches movies.
  • You enjoy cartoons and/or anime.
  • Someone who also mainly has indoor interests, but occasionally will enjoy a walk outdoors through places like Central Park or even just in the city.
  • Any education/employment path, but please be productive on something.

The primary focus is someone IRL. Anyone feel free to message if you just want to chat though! Mainly looking for NYC folks, Manhattan (Upper West Side or at least central Manhattan would be perfection), and Brooklyn/Queens maybe. Definitely give more than just a hi/hey, it goes a long way I promise. I'm not opposed to this going further than friends but not really looking or planning for much more. Thank you for reading! If this sounds interesting would love to hear from you!
