Tretinoin help!

Hello I have acne scars (red marks and some mild indented scars), I still get active acne, and I also have closed comedones. I recently started using tretinoin 0.05%. I only used it once last night and I didn’t experience any side effects.
Should I continue using it? Will it actually help with my acne, closed comedones, and acne scars?
I’ve also noticed that a lot of people use azelaic acid alongside tretinoin. Should I consider using azelaic acid as well, or should I stick with tretinoin alone for now?
