Help! 3 weeks into combo pill and my usual cycle pain is back

Im freaking out bc I started a combo pill (continuous use) to manage life disrupting pain from ovulation and cramps, and 3 weeks in and I’m getting what feels like my usual extreme ovulation pain 7-8 days before my period is supposed to start. Does this mean the birth control didn’t work? Everything I saw online said it’s supposed to work within a week so I’m really confused. I started the pill at the beginning of my last cycle and my period would normally be due in a week, so I’m 3 weeks into the pack and skipping the placebo week. I was also 1.5 hours late taking it this morning when the cramps started but when I looked online it said that shouldn’t matter. Did this happen to anyone else? Does this mean my cycle is not actually suppressed? :(
