M4 Mac Mini vs M1 Max

looking for general consensus-

I currently have a baseline M4 Mac Mini, and works fine. I have a less-than-desirable monitor, thunderbolt hub for hard drives and SSD’s for everything to do my design/light video production work. Basically a lot to plug into that Mac Mini.

Today, woot had a new, but open box, M1 Max 16” MacBook Pro with 32GB RAM and 8 TB SSD for $1750. That’s a lot of computer and storage that would literally replace everything on my cluttered desk- and I know with terrible hardware prices and economy this looks like a good deal, but also 5 years old.

I did buy the MacBook Pro, but is this a good swap/deal? What do you think?
