For those of you that hate crushes, what happens when you aren’t let down?

I’ve seen a lot of men saying that they don’t like the panicky feelings and loss of control when it comes to having a crush, and that they feel relieved when it’s discovered she’s taken. So, what happens when you discover she is not taken and willing/ready to date? Does it get worse?
