Prior Authorization Woes
Hi everyone! Wanted to run this odd scenario by everyone in this helpful group. This week I met with my PCP for my physical and PA renewal paperwork. I need my PA to be renewed every six months with my insurance. This has never been a problem and everything usually goes smoothly. My last PA was effective from 3/04/26 through 9/04/26.
When I logged into my insurance portal to check the status of my new PA, it says it was approved, but instead of the effective date(s) being a six month period, it only listed one day, as 9/03/26. So essentially the PA was only valid for one day, lol. Subsequently my new PA is saying “Please note that your prior authorization has expired. For more info contact your provider.”
Has this happened to anyone else? I’m hoping it can be an easy fix. I already have a message in to my PCP but with the long weekend I doubt I’ll hear back until Tuesday at the earliest. This minor hiccup has really made me feel anxious because I just want the certainty of knowing my meds will be covered for the next six months. Thanks all!
