What do you think this recent uptake in news on Alberta separation is actually about?

It's about you not focusing on the fact that it's our money they're stealing; it's our families and friends who are suffering and dying. A successful referendum only triggers a negotiation, secession requires the unanimous consent of all provinces and the federal parliament, which isn't going to happen, and the separatist running the movement know that, they've admitted it is a symbolic movement.

Previous AHS CEO, Athana Mentzelopoulos, alleges she was fired two days before she was scheduled to meet with the auditor general to discuss her discovery into various overpays on contracts and AHS procurement processes. For recommending that Mentzelopoulos take her findings to the RCMP, the AHS Board of Directors was dismissed on January 31, 2025.

In March 2025, the RCMP launched an investigation linked to an ongoing government corruption scandal.

In March 2026, a medical supply company caught up in allegations of corruption had its office in Edmonton searched by the RCMP.

In June 2026 AHS was ordered by a court to hand over procurement records as part of an active criminal investigation into government health-care contracts.

Whether it is the South flooding or the North burning, we've been there for each other and we will continue to be there for each other. Now we have another disaster that we have to come together and deal with.
