I made a very small text based adventure tech demo, and I'd appreciate feedback
Game Title: Tiny Fantasy Adventure Tech Demo
Playable Link: https://narcdrmkng.itch.io/tiny-fantasy-adventure-tech-demo
Platform: Web
Description: A small/short text based adventure game, with multiple choices, hand drawn art in the sketch style, multiple paragraph events, multiple unlockable characters, and a reset button to replay the game and choose different options. This tech demo has about 5-10 minutes of playable content, depending on how fast you can read. The event system itself is infinitely expandable. This is a tech demo, and lacks many features associated with adventure games and rpgs. I have plans to turn this game into an idle game with the events serving as a progression gate.
Free To Play Status: Free To Play
Involvement: Solo developer. All coding, art, design, and writing is done by me personally.
If this is not the right place to post something like this, please tell me where else I can go. Please don't just block my post without giving me another option or suggestion. I really need at least one opinion.
Extra info for the curious: This project is meant to see if anyone at all thinks my writing style and art style are worth creating a full game. I am a solo developer, and if people don't think anyone will enjoy this, I believe I should spend my time trying to develop something else. If someone thinks I should go for it, let me know. I've spent about 70 hours making this tech demo for the event system, and honestly I'm worried no one is going to enjoy it. For me, making games is about entertaining people, I don't really enjoy coding (I hate it actually). I enjoy writing, coming up with ideas, and drawing. I'm not exactly good at any of those things, but making games has been my dream since I was little. For the last 15 or so years, I've been trying to learn enough about coding, practicing art, and learning about game design the best I can without spending money. I'm in my 30s, and it's getting a little sad if I'm being honest. For the next 3 months, I have time to focus almost all my attention and free time on game development. One final push to see if I have what it takes. After that, I need to give up on my dreams. That's just how life is. If I focus on this text based game, it will take up a lot of my time. If it's at least a little interesting, I have to move on to a different project.
I know this tech demo is barely anything, but I really really suck at coding. This is the best I have, and I can't spend any more time on this without knowing if people will even care. I'm not asking for help with the project, I want to do it on my own. I just want to know if anyone at all thinks this has potential.
