Earned settlement is not worth it anymore
I have followed earned settlement and immigration white paper reforms from early 2025 and i was really excited to see Earned settlement to be passed retroactively this autumn but i feel like it’s not worth it anymore.
The only reason i wanted earned settlement to go through was so those people that bought visas from take aways and restaurants to be affected and not being able to get settled in the UK. But the government just launched a program which will allow every Skilled worker to change work without impacting their visa if they are being treated as modern slaves. The reality is that most people that bought visas get treated like modern slaves and they will complain their employers without loosing their status and most likely the government will let them get settled regardless.
If earned settlement goes ahead retroactively legit workers who want to progress and are an asset to this country will be impacted and we will loose genuine people that want to work and progress the right way
Only if we had a government that had common sense….
