Falcon A1 Pro fume extraction advice

My wife suffers from anxiety and isn't happy with being able to smell my word engraving. I'm aware the built in fan for my model isn't great but was just about getting away with funnelling the fumes out an open window with the pipe but this isn't perfect and I don't want to annoy the neighbours.

I bought a 4 inch inline extractor (https://amzn.eu/d/07NhDBPK) with a pipe adapter and carbon filter (https://amzn.eu/d/0ijEoEjc) but if anything is waaaay worse. The fan doesn't feel like it's actually pulling anything out of the falcon and the room immediately starts smelling of wood smoke and fumes. I've made sure the piping is as short as possible with no leaks, as far as I can tell.
