Rental Agreement Photocopy accepted as current resedential address proof at PSK?

Hi All,

I am currently staying in a rented flat in New Town, and my passport is due to expire soon.

I wanted to check whether a photocopy of my registered rental agreement would be accepted as proof of my current residential address. The agreement is registered in both my wife’s and my name, but unfortunately, we only have the photocopy and not the original document.

I do not have any other current address proof at the moment. I am originally from Siliguri, but I am currently residing in New Town.

Could someone please advise whether the photocopy of the registered rental agreement would be accepted for passport renewal?
