The moment we hear *Goa*, our minds often picture holidays, beaches🌊, and worldly relaxation. So, celebrating Shri Krishna Janmashtami here may seem surprising. Since childhood, Janmashtami had largely meant fasting, offering makhan-mishri to the deity at midnight, and enjoying Dahi Handi the next day-a celebration often limited to rituals, material pleasures, and a holiday atmosphere. But this time, a new light of understanding emerged.

How can the birth of the One who is **“Unborn”** be confined to a particular date or a 24-hour celebration? Shri Krishna is present within us-not just on Janmashtami, but **365 days a year, in every moment.** The real celebration is not an external event, but looking within and recognising the structure of our own ego. A deep contemplation of the *Bhagavad Gita* (Chapter 7, Verse 22) reveals that the fulfilment of worldly desires is not some divine miracle; it is a natural consequence of the intensity of our desire and the frequency of our efforts-the interplay of the laws of the material world and nature.

Deities may appear compassionate when they fulfil our desires, but Shri Krishna represents **supreme compassion**. Instead of simply fulfilling our childish demands, He holds up a mirror to the illusion behind them. The fulfilment of a desire is **not proof that it is beneficial for us**. It can instead nourish the ego and put our consciousness to sleep. The greatest tragedy is not that we failed to obtain something, but that we accumulated so much that we never truly needed. Even after acquiring those things, the incompleteness of the ego remains, while the time and effort spent pursuing them is **irreversible**.

This journey to Goa made one thing clear: what we call *“success”* or *“achievement”*, if attained without awareness, can ultimately become our **punishment and bondage**. True discernment is to examine ourselves before running after any object, pleasure, or achievement. The real meaning of Janmashtami is not to search for Krishna outside ourselves or merely participate in an external celebration, but to look within, see the structure of our ego, and free ourselves from the web of desires. **Acharya Ji, thank you from the depths of my heart for revealing the true meaning of Janmashtami and helping us step out of the hypocrisy and entanglement of mere worldly religious rituals.** 🙏🏻🍁
