How to look for accommodation as a student

Im an international student from asia moving to Berlin this fall for university. I am completely lost about looking for accommodation here and was wondering if the kind people of reddit could give me some advice.

My only wish is to be able to live alone in an affordable Einzelappartment (under 550 warm) which I know is a difficult ask. I’ve applied to studierendenwerk and berlinovo student housing but my chances are looking slim. So now Im not sure what to do.

The most logical thing would be to apply to WGs but I just really want my own kitchen and bathroom space no matter how small and I am afraid of getting stuck with people i don’t mesh with.

I don’t think I can apply for normal studio apartments on immoscout and such because I don’t have a stable source of income to prove yet and my parents live abroad.
