How to come to terms with the fact that they will always think they are the victim?
Chances are, they will never realise that they were abusive. They will always think you were the problem. That they were the victim. That you're out of your mind for leaving them. Somebody out there (their new partner, their mother, their friend, their therapist) is receiving a biased account from them and believing you were a villain and validating your abuser.
Even though there's nothing you can do about it, the frustration remains in the back of your mind. Distracts you from anything you try to do. How do you make it go away? Does it ever go away? I finally left them today. I feel so emotionally vulnerable and exhausted. Please be kind but honest.
