My husband [34M] has been on me [35F] to get a hobby since we’ve been married. Is it unreasonable that this annoys me? We’ve been married for a little over 2 years and he often brings up that I don’t have a hobby. I may be a boring person, but I enjoy taking care of our home, making plans for home improvements, cleaning, cooking, and taking care of our 8 month old. He wants me to have a more traditional hobby like reading (I listen to audiobooks before bed.) or drawing (I’m pretty good at it, I just don’t like doing it all the time.) The thing is, his hobby is playing video games. While he’s doing that, I’m usually watching a show, doom scrolling, looking up things that interest me on my phone (house decor, recipes, etc.), or playing with our baby. For some reason, that doesn’t seem to be good enough for him. This is really starting to annoy me. I’m spending my time how I want to while he’s doing the same. I’m never on him about doing something other than video games even though I consider them just as much a waste of time as my doom scrolling or tv watching. It’s how he wants to relax after a hard days work and I don’t mind. In my mind, as long as we’ve taken care of our responsibilities, we should be free to relax however we please without guilt. I’m a math teacher and often come home fully exhausted. Is it so terrible that I don’t feel like engaging in a more traditional hobby after a full day of teaching, taking care of our baby, and doing housework like laundry and cooking supper? Sometimes I just want to exist by the end of the day! He’s kind of making me feel like I’m just being lazy and boring.
Am I being unreasonable?
TLDR: My husband wants me to get a hobby. I want him to get off my back.
